The sun was bright; the yard was overly decorated as everyone rushed every which way. The bride was hidden in a white room with her entourage; her sister and cousin were to lead her down the path to her new future. Danielle was excited to see her forthcoming husband, John Roberts. Her face was plastered with a wide beam as she reminded herself this was what she had wanted her whole life, for a man to love her with everything he had.
John was hidden in an adjacent room with his two best men, his brothers. He was rushing to finish the last minute details before he went down the aisle to wait for his future. Once he had his jacket on, his brothers went ahead of him, down to the alter. The family was in high anticipation as a small, blonde girl made her way down the aisle, throwing red, rose pedals upon the path before taking her seat with her parents. Just after she took her seat, came the bridesmaids.
The women gracefully strolled down the pathway in identical, silver, floor length dresses. One was a dark haired, petite girl, she was known as Danielle’s sister Victoria. Victoria was one who flirted with any cute boy she saw, she was followed by a women whose hair cascaded down past her hips. Her eyes were what caught John’s brother, William’s eye. He’d never met her, but he wanted to know her. He watched her as she paced down the aisle to stand next to the flirt.
Now was not the time for anyone to have their eyes on anything but the path, the typical, traditional music was flooding the room and John’s world was walking right to him. She had her hair pinned back in loose curls and was wearing a piercingly white ball gown. Her cheeks were pink with anticipation and her eyes welled with crystals of joy. Though everyone’s eyes were on the bride, one pair of russet spheres rested upon the blue eyed beauty. She emerged as someone who would be shy, coy, and reserved. She was elegant, graceful, and most of all beautiful. These were the things that ran through both William and John’s minds as Danielle landed at the alter; however, they were in regards to two different women.
As vows were exchanged, William was in his own world, one that contained no one other than the blue eyed beauty and himself. But the world was broken when the families cheered for the couple’s first kiss as man and wife. The bride and groom made their way back up the walkway and to the limo that awaited them. The wedding party soon trailed behind and the limo headed to the reception location, but not before Victoria could throw in a couple lines. “Is it hot in here, or is it just you?” William felt a rush of heat land next to him; he turned to see Victoria sitting next to him smiling innocently.
This single comment led to a slue of many others. The blue eyed beauty was watching Victoria trying to ‘work her magic’ but to no avail. Blue was hiding a giggle as she noticed William’s disinterest in the matter. Christian, another one of John’s brothers didn’t bother to hide his amusement. In response to Christian’s action, William glared and announced, “Hey Victoria, Christian’s checking you out.” Christian’s mouth dropped in disbelief as Victoria slid to him. William smirked and Blue finally released a laugh. That laugh was the single most delectable sound to ever fill William’s ears.
The limo finally reached the destination and the party exited before entering the hall. Before long the initial first dances had begun and it was time for the wedding unit to pair up. Of course Victoria rushed to pair with William but before she had the chance William was in the presence of Blue. His hand was extended and his frame was in the formation of a bow. Her blue eyes gleamed as she grasped his firm hand and was pulled to the dance floor. They danced along with the music in a tight embrace as they spoke. “So you must be Danielle’s cousin…” “The name’s Sofiya.” Their faces shone with a smile as he replied, “Mine’s Will.” Earlier than expected the music finished as did their conversation and clinch.
The day moved into the night and both William and Sofiya had shared several glances that held a sense of curiosity, curiosity for what they hoped would come. The dance floor was clear, and the tables were less than busy, the hall was hastily clearing with left behind good-byes.
Once the room was emptied of guests, Danielle and John made their way to the limo once again, the limo was taking them to the airport to begin their honeymoon. Christian was in a hurry to leave before Victoria caught him, but he was unaware that she had already found a new fascination, a waiter. All that remained were William, Sofiya and the radio that still emitted music. They stared at each other for what seemed an eternity before she shuffled toward him, her heels long gone.
This would be the first time they danced in a room with no one watching them; they would dance for their own personal delight. The music remained slow as the couple twirled, spun and dipped. They continued their conversation from earlier, a conversation filled with revealed dreams, wishes, pasts, likes, and dislikes. It was as if they were two people who had known each other since birth, a natural connection. This connection wasn’t just attraction, but the potential to be the best of friends. Their bond lied on every level two people could share.
Their night would fall into hours of heated passion, soaked in the sounds of lust. The night would be followed by the intense luminosity of daybreak. They awoke crammed next to each other under the plush blankets of his bed. Their eyes flickered open as reality hit them, for the two that didn’t drink the entire night, it was odd that the moon ere was a fog.
Once they had grasped the verity of their actions, they couldn’t help but feel a little gauche. However, the awkwardness only lasted a short moment as memories of the previous day flooded their minds, reminding them of just how much they connected. This bond was the beginning of the rest of their lives as one single soul.
It may have been rushed, but who says love at first sight can’t be genuine. Fate cannot be ignored, nor should it be. Between William and Sofiya, nothing had ever been more right, this was the best night of their lives, and nothing could ever crown those first few hours in meeting, for the past is the future in the making.
